A movements of environment preservation now being the NGO of Lestari hutanku has begun since early 2004 by recommendation from head of Mengkatip Village, Dusun Hilir Sub district, South Borneo Regency with joint commitment to maintain a protect a forest of about 250 hectares in wide. This area is constantly prevented from plundering of existing wood forest and establishes a small team of the Forest Area Fire Inspection as each dry season comes.
On 2007, to organize activities carried out and to provide an obvious legal shade, the NGO of Lestari Hutanku was established and passed on March 4,2007, with Notary Act No.31/2007 and registered in the State Court of Palangkaraya at March 16, 2007 with No.1/III/2007 located in the area with Local Regulation No.8/2003 on Neighbourhood Association and the Collection of the Neighbourhood Association in Central Borneo Province and included in the area of Flora Fauna Conservation.
In Fact, activities carried out by the NGO of Lestari Hutanku in location of preserving areas are as follows:
Making footpath around the area of more or less 7 km in long.
Making footpath within the area (four main paths) into the inside tree area of 40 cm in diameter.
Making a small list of or number of trees/woods within areas reaching 800 trees/woods.
Recording kinds of trees or woods, till now listed more or less 32 kinds.
Making the base camp around the preserving areas
Put notification or warning planks for preventing from tree/wood logging and firing as well as warning signs for forest fire.
